The new Tay Ninh will strive to integrate and preserve its identity: Solid foundation for sustainable development
A new promising chapter will open for the southern region of the country when Tay Ninh and Long An provinces are merged into a new Tay Ninh province with a large scale, strong potential and important strategic position. Combining the strength of two lands rich in tradition, the new Tay Ninh province will confidently rise up, towards a dynamic and sustainable development future, becoming a bright spot on the socio-economic map of the region and the whole country.

Solid foundation for sustainable development

With its strategic location and a vibrant economy, Tay Ninh province has recently put on a new coat, rich in potential and development prospects. The unique values from the natural landscape, diverse ecosystem and modern, synchronous infrastructure system promise to open the doors to sustainable and prosperous development.

The administrative center of the new Tay Ninh province is located in the former Tan An City area, the heart of the southern region

Diverse nature

The new Tay Ninh province possesses a special geographical location, like a bridge stretching from the southwestern border with Cambodia to the bustling gateway of the Mekong Delta. This position makes the new Tay Ninh province an important artery, connecting dynamic Ho Chi Minh City with the rich rice and fruit granary of the West and neighboring Cambodia. With a total natural area of about 8,536.44 km² - created from the 4,041.65 km² of the old Tay Ninh province and 4,494.79 km² of the old Long An, and a population of more than 3.25 million people, a density of about 380 people/km², the new Tay Ninh province will become one of the provinces with a large area and population, creating a solid foundation for breakthrough developments in the future.

The new Tay Ninh province with the North bearing the mark of the old Tay Ninh, stands out with its semi-mountainous terrain, where Ba Den mountain towers, known as the "roof of the South" with a height of 996m. This extinct volcano is not only a mysterious spiritual destination but also a "magnet" attracting tourists with its unique ecosystem. In addition, Dau Tieng Lake - one of the largest artificial lakes in Southeast Asia appears sparkling in the sun, likened to a vast "sky fish bag", with a poetic and lyrical beauty, an ideal space for outdoor activities, relaxation and a strategic water supply.

At the same time, the ASEAN Heritage Park - Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park with its unique natural and cultural heritage values is recognized as an unmissable eco-tourism destination. On the contrary, the South bears the mark of the old Long An, very gentle with the characteristics of the Mekong Delta.

Here are vast golden rice fields, a network of rivers, canals and streams like green veins that nourish life, especially the two gentle and poetic Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers that have entered countless poems. This land is also proud to own Lang Sen Wetland Reserve, recognized as the 2,227th Ramsar site in the world and the 7th in Vietnam, a vivid testament to the diversity of the local ecosystem.

The overall terrain is relatively flat, with an average elevation of 35m above sea level, interspersed with low mountains in the North and low-lying coastal plains in the South, where the rainy season from August to November often causes local flooding. The magical blend of mountains and plains, of deep green forests and vast rivers creates a new Tay Ninh with rich landscapes, containing countless potentials for ecotourism and exploration.

Dynamic economy

The new Tay Ninh province is proud to own a significant economy, with a combined total GRDP of about 292,000 billion VND in 2024. Economic strength comes from the diversity and complementarity between industries and fields, creating a colorful economic picture. If the Southern region (formerly Long An) stands out as a major industrial center of the region, strongly attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), once leading the country in the number of industrial parks and clusters, the former Tay Ninh province also attracted 394 FDI projects with a total capital of more than 10.2 billion USD (as of January 2025), being in the leading group attracting foreign capital in the Southern region, developing the textile, footwear, agricultural processing, mechanical, electronics, and plastic industries with outstanding strengths in warehousing and logistics services thanks to its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City and the seaport system.

The Northern region (former Tay Ninh) is marked by its typical agriculture including key industrial crops such as sugarcane, rubber, cassava, and a vibrant border trade economy through Moc Bai International Border Gate connecting trade with Cambodia and Thailand, being an important hub of the road from Ho Chi Minh City to Northeast Cambodia and a unique spiritual and ecological tourism industry.

The agriculture of the entire Tay Ninh province has diversified products, meeting domestic demand and promising to reach out to the international market. In addition to rice, juicy red dragon fruit, seedless lemons famous in the Southern region (such as Chau Thanh dragon fruit, Ben Luc pineapple), there is also sweet sugar cane, endless green rubber, fragrant cassava, specialty fruits from the alluvial land on both banks of the Vam Co Dong River such as sweet custard apple, yellow banana, fragrant mango, rich-flavored durian and fresh livestock and aquatic products.

The province is promoting the application of high technology and developing organic agriculture, aiming at sustainable agriculture, bringing high added value such as the High-tech Agricultural Development Program associated with restructuring the agricultural sector, expanding vegetable and flower cultivation and applying automatic irrigation systems in the old Long An. Food security is focused on. The province supported vocational training for 2,617 rural people in cultivation, animal husbandry, and mechanics, helping to increase the rate of skilled workers to 74.7%, contributing to the overall development.

Synchronous infrastructure

The transport infrastructure system is considered a strong lever, promoting breakthrough development. The new Tay Ninh province benefits from a fairly complete transport network, connecting inter-regionally and internationally smoothly. The main national highways such as the bustling national highway 1, national highway 22 (Trans-Asia axis) connecting economic centers, national highway 62, national highway 50 play the role of backbone, supplemented by important provincial roads such as 830 (Duc Hoa - Tan Tap), 823, 824, 825 creating a tight, smooth network connecting the Northern and Southern regions.

In particular, Tay Ninh province has just been deeply integrated into the national highway network with key projects of national stature: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway is in operation; The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is gradually being completed, promising to directly connect the Mekong Delta with the Southeast region and Long Thanh International Airport in the near future, and the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway project is being urgently implemented, expected to be completed in 2027, not only breaking the monopoly of National Highway 22 but also opening the door to trade with Cambodia and the ASEAN region.

The Ring Roads 3 and 4 of Ho Chi Minh City passing through the area are being invested in, creating a strong connection momentum, especially with the Ring Road 3 section ahead of schedule, becoming a key national traffic project. In particular, the Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section with the Tay Long bridge across the Thach Bich canal, is preparing to connect for the unification of the two provinces. This bridge not only connects the two localities but also serves as a warm welcome to the unification into the new Tay Ninh province, opening a new era of solidarity and prosperous development.

In addition to roads, waterway transport is also a great advantage with the Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay river systems and a dense network of canals and ditches, convenient for transporting goods. Important waterways such as Ho Chi Minh City - Kien Luong, Ho Chi Minh City - Ca Mau, Ho Chi Minh City - Tay Ninh via Nuoc Man canal, Rach Cat river, Vam Co Dong river and canals such as Phuoc Xuyen, Duong Van Duong, Tra Cu, Kinh Xang, Ben Luc river allow vehicles over 100 tons to circulate easily, expanding connectivity.

In particular, Long An International Port on Soai Rap river with the ability to receive large tonnage ships (up to 70,000 DWT) is striving to become an important sea trade gateway of the region, strongly promoting logistics and import and export activities. Dau Tieng Lake with an area of 27,000 hectares and a capacity of 1.58 billion m³ is not only full of fish but also has an abundant strategic water source for industry, agriculture and daily life of many neighboring provinces, contributing to ensuring water security for the whole region.

Industrial parks and industrial clusters are widely developed throughout the new province, attracting investment and creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers, contributing to the overall economic development. With large-scale and modern industrial parks such as Phuoc Dong, Thanh Thanh Cong, Trang Bang in the North or Long Hau, Phu An Thanh, Vinh Loc 2, Tan Duc, Hai Son, Viet Phat in the South, Tay Ninh province possesses a solid industrial foundation.

The old Long An province used to lead the country with 37 industrial parks and 62 industrial clusters on a total area of over 15,000 hectares, while the old Tay Ninh province also had 9 industrial parks and 7 industrial clusters with over 4,500 hectares (of which 5 industrial parks are in operation, 6 planned industrial parks are completing infrastructure). This combination creates a massive industrial park and industrial cluster system, strongly attracting investment from developed countries such as Korea, Japan, China and Europe with diverse industries from textiles, footwear, agricultural processing to mechanics, electronics, and plastics.

The administrative center of the new province is located in the former Tan An city area, the heart of the southern region. Tan An has a long history of development, possesses a prime strategic location, relatively developed infrastructure, and convenient connections with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. The location of the administrative center here is expected to promote the role of a locomotive, a nucleus promoting the overall development of the whole province. Tan An with modern type II urban infrastructure, a system of educational facilities from primary to university and high-quality healthcare is a solid foundation for the role of a new administrative - political center, ensuring the provision of public services and modern urban utilities for the people.

With a unique strategic position, diverse and rich nature, attractive tourist destinations, heroic revolutionary historical relics and a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, the new Tay Ninh province will be a land of intersection between majestic nature, precious ecological heritage and a vibrant economy. This place converges unique values from sacred mountains, immense lakes to golden rice fields, gentle rivers creating countless opportunities for development and economic cooperation - a vivid proof of the harmonious and sustainable development between people and nature in a promising new homeland./.
