Director of Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative (Long Khe commune, Can Duoc district) - Le Van Giay uses remote control to control the automatic irrigation system for the vegetable garden
Many positive signals
Digital transformation in agriculture aims to promote the development of modern agriculture. Currently, the provincial agricultural sector is promoting digital transformation, helping to improve productivity, increase product value and protect the environment. Digital transformation is applied in the fields of cultivation, livestock, aquaculture, forestry, etc, bringing positive results.
In particular, programs and software for garden management and precision agriculture are applied to optimize the use of water, fertilizers, etc. to gradually transform from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, creating conditions to increase labor productivity, reduce dependence on the environment and weather; at the same time, control diseases in production.
Concentrated agricultural production areas have applied drip irrigation technology, smart irrigation, and advanced farming processes. For rice production, many farmers have used drones for fertilization, pesticide spraying, etc., contributing to increasing economic efficiency, reducing direct contact with chemicals, and protecting people's health.
Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative (Long Khe commune, Can Duoc district) is one of the pioneering cooperatives in digital transformation in production. Currently, the cooperative produces on an area of about 30 hectares. All vegetable growing areas are equipped with automatic irrigation systems.
Mr. Le Van Toc - a member of the Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative, shared: "My family installed an automatic irrigation system to grow vegetables since 2017. Thanks to this system, I have reduced labor and increased profits". Director of the Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative - Le Van Giay informed: "The cooperative applies digital technology in putting products on e-commerce platforms, using websites, production management software. Thereby, helping to manage the production process and become known to many customers."
In Tan Hiep commune, Thanh Hoa district, since the construction of the integrated weather forecasting station, farmers have been better supported in agricultural production. Accordingly, the integrated weather forecasting station can continuously measure weather indicators and detect pests and diseases.
The collected data is stored in management software to serve analysis, evaluation and provide weather forecast information, extreme weather phenomena to help farmers proactively prevent and control pests and diseases on rice.
Vice Chairman of Tan Hiep Commune Farmers' Association - Tiet Van Nghiep said: "The commune received support from the District Department of Agriculture and Environment to invest in installing a pest warning system. The locality has instructed farmer members to install the app on their smartphones. Through the app, farmers can grasp the weather developments, insect and pest situations to proactively prevent, combat and protect crops."
Drones are effective in agricultural production on a large scale.
Realizing that digital transformation is an effective tool to create added value for agricultural products, increase labor productivity, quality of agricultural products, connect producers with consumers, businesses with farmers, departments and branches have been implementing digital transformation in agriculture quite effectively. The province puts local agricultural products on digital platforms, helping them to be consumed easily and still maintain their prices.
Nowadays, with just a phone with internet connection or a click on a computer, we can buy any favorite item without spending too much time and effort. Grasping this need, especially after the time affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, the orchid trading market is quiet, many gardeners cannot find a stable output for orchids, so the orchid garden Hoa Lan Giong (Long Thuong commune, Can Giuoc district) has boldly changed the sales method from traditional to online.
Owner of Hoa Lan Giong orchid garden - Tran Anh Thy confided: "The garden started livestreaming to sell orchids since the Covid-19 pandemic. Through e-commerce platforms such as TikTok shop, Lazada, Shopee, etc., or social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, etc., our orchid garden reaches customers nationwide without being separated by geographical distance."
Mr. Thy also has his staff organize livestreams 3 shifts a day at fixed times, in which each time slot will have different customer segments. Thanks to livestreams, on average, Mr. Thy sells 100-200 orders per day.
Mastering technology to gradually integrate

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, recently, digitalization in each stage of production or complete digitalization has been applied by many households, businesses, and cooperatives. Digital transformation in production not only contributes to improving product quality and creating competition, but is also an opportunity to change the mindset of production from small, fragmented, inefficient, and lacking chain linkages to advanced agriculture. From there, farmers can control harvest time, reduce production costs, and increase profits.
Many production facilities and farmers have boldly applied digital transformation in care, monitoring, and management using information technology via phones and computers; products are registered with stamps, codes, and barcodes, facilitating transactions and connecting product consumption.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - Phan Van Cuong informed: "In order to promote digital transformation in agriculture, the provincial agricultural sector determined that implementation must be based on a data platform; focusing on building large data systems of the sector such as land, crops, livestock, aquatic products, etc.; developing high-tech agriculture in a smart, accurate direction, increasing the proportion of digital agriculture in the economy; applying digital technology to automate production and business processes; managing and monitoring the origin and supply chain of products, ensuring transparency, accuracy, safety and food hygiene; at the same time, providing information on the environment, weather, and soil quality for people to improve crop productivity and quality".
Digital transformation is no longer an option but an inevitable path for sustainable agricultural development. By mastering technology, farmers not only increase their income but also gradually integrate and reach out to the international market./.
