Green growth is a new approach in economic development of countries around the world and is a global trend in the current period. Countries around the world are focusing on realizing green growth and sustainable evelopment, and many of them have initially achieved very positive results.

In Vietnam, the Prime Minister approved Decision No. 1658, dated October 1, 2021, approving the National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; National Action Plan regarding green growth in the period 2021-2030, which affirms: Green growth is based on the process of changing the growth model; restructuring the economy to take advantage of comparative advantages, improve efficiency and competitiveness of the economy through research and application of advanced technology; developing modern infrastructure systems to effectively exploit natural resources; reducing greenhouse gas emissions, responding to climate change, and creating a driving force for sustainable economic growth.

The province aims for green growth and sustainable development

In Long An, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 17, dated January 4, 2023 on approving the Action Plan on Green Growth for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 in the province. In particular, the province clearly identifies key tasks and implementation roadmaps for departments, branches, People's Committees at all levels and relevant agencies to complete the set goals and tasks, ensuring direction.

Departments, branches, branches, People's Committees at all levels and relevant agencies and the business community must have close coordination in the implementation process for the goal of green growth and sustainable development of the province.

According to General Director of Saigon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company (Saigontel) - Nguyen Cam Phuong, based on international experience, the company proposes a green industrial park model in 3 specific stages.

Phase 1: Eco-industrial park. The proposed standards meet legal regulations within 3 months before registering for eco-industrial park certification; ensuring essential basic services in the industrial park; developing a report on a coordination mechanism to monitor and report on efficient use of raw materials and must have the participation of at least 20% of businesses operating in the industrial park; The ratio of green land, traffic, technical areas and shared social infrastructure in the industrial park must be at least 25%; Implementing at least 1 industrial symbiosis and businesses participating in industrial symbiosis in the zone apply environmental production and management systems according to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards; There must be solutions to ensure housing, service facilities, and public utilities for workers working in industrial parks.

Phase 2: Carbon Neutral Industrial Park implements short-term emission reduction goals, appropriate energy transition and smart center management.

Phase 3: Net Zero Industrial Park: 100% renewable energy integrating storage battery technology, green hydrogen technology; reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% by 2030; implementing waste burning technology to generate electricity, providing steam to recover energy from trash, reusing 80% of wastewater, aiming for 100% green energy, zero waste; etc,

Currently, the company is proposing the province to consider piloting green industrial park investment in Loc Giang, Tan Tap, Nam Tan Tap industrial parks; introduce locations and approve the company to conduct surveys of solar power and waste-to-energy projects in the province.

Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut emphasized that sustainable development has been and is an important goal of Vietnam in general and of Long An province in particular. Accordingly, green growth with a close, reasonable and harmonious combination between socio-economic development and environmental protection is the premise to realize this goal.

Green growth not only brings economic benefits but also restores and protects ecosystems, conserves biodiversity, and makes an important contribution to the implementation of goals to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Long An has issued a Decision approving the Action Plan on Green Growth for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 in the area for implementation; At the same time, the province organized many programs, conferences, and seminars connecting organizations, experts, and companies operating in related fields at home and abroad to introduce and share information and international experiences, orienting the implementation process, contributing to promoting green growth and sustainable development./.
