According to the report from Ministry of Information and Communications, in the first 4 months of 2024, the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries and branches have issued documents and policies to complete the legal corridor for the application of information technology and digital transformation. In particular, the Government has issued 2 decrees, the Prime Minister has issued 5 decisions and 2 directives; Ministries and branches have issued many guiding documents to promote national digital transformation.

To date, 21 ministries, branches and 62 localities have issued the 2024 digital transformation plan, which specifically identifies goals, tasks, and digital transformation solutions in sectors and fields according to function and management of ministries, branches and localities. Along with that, state agencies continue to exploit and effectively operate national databases in socio-economic management and administration. By the end of the first quarter of 2024, 14 ministries, branches and 52 localities have issued a list of databases according to regulations, reaching 77%, an increase of 11% compared to 2023.

According to statistics, currently 80.2% of households nationwide use fiber optic broadband Internet. 100% of communes connect to fiber optic Internet. 4G mobile broadband covers 99.8% of the population with stable quality. However, as of March 2024, there are still 1,077 villages nationwide that do not have mobile broadband coverage (wave depression areas). Of these, 838 villages are in extremely difficult areas; 181 villages do not have electricity from the grid.

Regarding digital economic development, according to calculations by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the proportion of digital economy/GDP in 2021 and 2022 are 11.91% and 14.26% respectively. The proportion of digital economy/GDP in 2023 is estimated to reach 16.5% with a growth rate of 20%, 3 times higher than GDP growth.

At the same time, proposing practical solutions to promote digital transformation in the fields of economic development and social life.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister, Chairman of National Committee on Digital Transformation - Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that community development is a breakthrough, a key task, objective requirement, strategic choice, and priority in implementing socio-economic development goals. The stronger the digitization, the more openness and transparency will be enhanced, and the prevention and fight against corruption and negativity will be promoted.

The Prime Minister praised the results achieved in digital transformation of ministries, branches, localities, businesses, member committees of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, and the unanimous support of people and businesses; At the same time, he clearly pointed out the limitations, weaknesses, causes and lessons learned in the digital transformation process at all levels and sectors as well as perspectives on digital economic development.

In addition, the Prime Minister also assigned specific tasks to ministries, branches and localities and requested to urgently, drastically and take strong, substantive action on the assigned tasks on digital transformation actions and programs, ensuring that each implemented task must bring practical results, creating an important driving force to promote rapid and sustainable socio-economic development./.
