2020 is a difficult year for the local tourism industry. According to statistics, the number of tourists and revenue from tourists in localities has decreased sharply. During the year, the provinces in the cluster welcomed about 6.5 million visitors, down 52 percent over the same period in 2019, collecting over 185 trillion VND, down 49 percent over the same period. Particularly in Long An, in 2020, it welcomed 800,000 visitors with a revenue of about 400 billion VND (down nearly 50 percent over the same period).

Despite facing many difficulties, localities in the Cluster (including Long An) have many practical activities to improve tourism efficiency in localities. The tourism industry of the provinces still contacted regularly to share information, exchange experiences on state management, information promotion, tourism promotion, tourism, etc. especially exchange information about rooms, anti-epidemic, solutions to restore the tourism industry after the Covid-19 epidemic. The provinces in the cluster coordinate to organize many programs of surveying to build new, unique tourism products, coordinate training to improve quality human resources for tourism.

In the current period, the tourism industry focuses on attracting domestic tourists. The need to link and build high-quality tours and routes to meet the needs of tourists is an urgent requirement set by the tourism businesses in the cluster. The construction of typical tourism products, avoiding duplication to help tourists have more options is also one of the important requirements in the current period.
At the conference, the Ben Tre Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism transferred the role of Cluster leader in 2021 to the Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism./.
