Smart travel system - The "bridge" connecting 3 parties

Last August, the Provincial People's Committee organized a conference to summarize the pilot information portal and smart tourism mobile app in the province. At the conference, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa directed to focus on officially implementing the smart tourism system, along with improving the quality of information service, ensuring attractiveness and freshness to meet the increasing demand from users. The province also aims for higher goals in developing smart tourism: Standardizing content on destinations, products and services; Developing an automatic tour guide application via smart tourism mobile app; Applying virtual reality technology and other advanced technologies to increase the value and attractiveness of destinations and tourism products of the province.

The above orientations were quickly deployed and implemented to promote the official operation of the smart tourism system and develop a plan to develop the smart tourism system in Long An province until 2025.

Built with an online data platform, on the basis of digitizing tourism data, the smart tourism system creates conditions for organizations and individuals to look up information, update and share data, contributing to the formation of a smart tourism ecosystem, promoting sustainable tourism development, in line with tourism development trends in the digital age. Chairman of the Provincial Tourism Association - Nguyen Van Hien commented: "The Smart Tourism System gathers full information about tourism activities, entertainment, dining, shopping, etc contributing to promoting the image of people, culture and resources of Long An, the development of the tourism and socio-economic sector of the province".

Digitizing historical and cultural relics in the province is an activity that contributes to propagating and promoting cultural values at "red addresses", historical and cultural relics in the province.

Currently, tourists mostly use the Internet and smart devices to search for travel information, destinations, compare and choose reasonable travel services; carry out tour purchase, room booking, and online payment transactions; etc. The official operation of the smart tourism system is an inevitable trend and a big step forward for the province's tourism industry. Currently, Long An's smart tourism system provides information about travel companies, restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions, cultural events, tourism, etc in the province. That information is always updated, adjusted regularly and continuously to ensure accuracy and completeness, helping visitors build tours to Long An easily and conveniently. In addition, tours pre-designed by businesses and currently being offered for sale are also available on the system.

According to Provincial Tourism Promotion Information Center, in addition to available information, the smart tourism system will build a virtual reality (3D) sightseeing system, allowing tourists to visit local tourist attractions through virtual reality technology, enriching visitors' experience of tourism in Long An province.

Promoting efficiency from the grassroots

Not only the smart tourism system, the application of digital technology is deployed simultaneously by localities and businesses with many different activities to promote images and attract tourists.

Prominent tourist areas in the province include Endless Field, Tan Lap Floating Village, Chavi Garden, My Quynh Zoo. In addition to their official website, there are also social network accounts with various images and information to helps visitors easily access and learn. Living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Phan Thi Le shared that she knew about My Quynh Zoo through Facebook. The images on the fanpage made her excited and she decided to choose My Quynh Zoo as a Christmas destination with her friends. “Seeing the pictures of the area, I find it interesting and want to experience it. The Zoo's fanpage provides complete information, address, contact phone number, and route information, so it was quite easy for me to find it" - Ms. Le said.

Digitizing historical and cultural relics in the province is an activity that contributes to propagating and promoting cultural values at "red addresses", historical and cultural relics in the province.

In addition, the digitization of historical and cultural relics in the province is also focused. By synchronously deploying and assigning targets, in 2023, the Youth Union at all levels in the province has digitized 71 projects. Among them, there are 6 projects using VR 360 technology: Long An Monument Park of "Bravery and resilience, all people fighting the enemy", Ton Thanh Pagoda, Vam Nhut Tao, Party Committee Base and Administrative and Southern Resistance Committee, Memorial area of lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho, Phuoc Lam pagoda.

With VR 360 technology, visitors not only get the necessary information when scanning the QR code installed at the relic, but also see virtual reality images and listen to automatic explanations about the space at the relic. VR 360 technology allows visitors to experience different perspectives in 3-dimensional space that cannot be achieved with image and video data, creating novelty and attraction.

Deputy Secretary of Provincial Youth Union - Le Thi Hong Ket said: "The project of digitizing relics is an activity that contributes to propagandizing and promoting cultural values at "red addresses", historical and cultural relics in the local area; promoting digital transformation in the field of culture and tourism; demonstrating the pioneering, innovative and creative role of young people in the process of digital transformation, applying digital technology in practice." The digitization of relics is an effort to help union members, young people, children in particular and people in general easily learn about historical and cultural relics as well as have a better experience of Long An tourism.

The use of VR 360 technology to digitize historical and cultural relics is the foundation for promoting the application of virtual reality technology and other advanced technologies to increase the value and attractiveness of destinations and future tourism products of the province. In the current period, the application of 4.0 technology in tourism development is extremely necessary to promote tourism and bringing the best experiences to tourists./.
