In the colorful picture of the homeland, My An commune has emerged as a bright spot, bringing new vitality and outstanding development potential. My An commune was formed from the merger of the former My An commune and My Phu commune, not only inheriting traditional values but also opening a new chapter full of prospects, promising to bring a better life to the people.

With a total area of 32.76 square kilometers and a population of 20,682, the newly formed My An Commune is asserting its position. The merger not only expands the geographical space but also forges a stronger, more unified community, well-positioned for future progress. The name “My An” remains unchanged, serving as a tribute to the region’s proud history and distinctive cultural identity.

A defining feature of the newly formed My An Commune is its strategic focus on diversified and sustainable development. With its expansive land area, the commune aims to broaden its industrial, service, and resort sectors, while simultaneously modernizing and advancing agriculture. This balanced approach between economic growth and tourism development lays the foundation for a resilient, multi-sector economy. Such diversification helps My An mitigate risks, reduce dependence on any single economic sector, and generate broader employment opportunities for residents.

In particular, the commune’s administrative center is now located in My Phu—a central and accessible location that improves public service delivery and enhances community engagement. The relocation enhances administrative efficiency and strengthens commercial and social ties across the area.

In the rich mosaic of the Mekong Delta, the new Mỹ Thạnh Commune takes shape with pride and ambition, representing over 26,530 residents across 63.70 square kilometers.  Formed from the merger of the communes: Binh An, My Thanh, My Lac, and part of Tan Thanh commune, the new My Thanh is not only an administrative unit but also a symbol of solidarity, continuing historical traditions, and opening up a bright future. Each merged piece of land has its own characteristics, from vast rice fields to hard-working, diligent people, creating a close-knit community with rich potential.

The commune headquarters is located in the center of My Thanh today, with a favorable location, a "bridge" for trade, culture, and development, creating conditions for My Thanh to become the center of innovation. This central location is the key to innovation, helping administrative management and economic development to be carried out more effectively; at the same time, strengthening the connection between areas in the commune.

A defining feature of the commune is its name—My Thanh—which is deeply tied to the historic battle in Ca Thay dock, a milestone marking the indomitable spirit of our ancestors. The name evokes pride and a shared sense of responsibility to preserve and honor the past. Integrating this historical legacy into cultural and tourism activities could help establish a unique local brand, attracting visitors and strengthening community identity.

In terms of development orientation, the new My Thanh commune has a great aspiration to become a multi-dimensional development space, from rich agriculture to modern industry. With a large area and fertile land, My Thanh has the potential to become a granary and fruit garden; at the same time, it is a place to attract industrial projects, create jobs, and improve people's lives.
