The lists cover several sub-sectors, such as international forwarding, warehouse services, and third- and fourth-party logistics; freight transport; port operations; and rapid delivery and last-mile delivery.
The top 10 businesses in international forwarding, warehouse services, and third- and fourth-party logistics are the Gemadept JSC, the Indo Tran Logistics Corporation, the DHL Global Forwarding (Vietnam) Corporation, the Transimex JSC, the Expeditors Vietnam Co. Ltd, the Schenker Vietnam Co. Ltd, the Kuehne Nagel Co. Ltd, the Bee Logistics JSC, the South Logistics JSC, and the Vinafreight JSC.
The rankings were compiled based on companies' financial capacity, as reflected in their financial reports; media reputation, as assessed by media coding methods that encode articles about companies on influential media channels; and interviews with relevant parties conducted in October and November.
Vietnam Report General Director Vu Dang Vinh said that after decades of globalisation, the world is now more inter-connected than ever, opening up huge opportunities for global trade and promoting the development of supply chains.
However, he also noted that greater connectivity poses problems in supply chains in general and the logistics sector, the backbone of supply chains, in particular, when sudden shocks like COVID-19 strike.
The Vietnam Logistics Business Association reported that, in March, 15 percent of logistics companies posted a year-on-year revenue decline of 50 percent, and over half of all companies experienced a decline of 10-30 percent in the number of domestic and international logistics services provided compared to the same period last year.
The containment of COVID-19 helped Vietnamese businesses, including logistics companies, resume activities fairly quickly. A Vietnam Report survey shows that the operational capacity of 87 percent of interviewed companies in October and November was equivalent to 60 percent of pre-pandemic levels./.

|Hi-tech application in agricultural production maintained in drought and saline season||Hi-tech application in agricultural production maintained in drought and saline season|
Over the past time, promoting high-tech application in agricultural production helped many households in Long An province develop production and improve their incomes. Especially, the application of high technology also helps farmers maintain production, mitigate losses and create profits under the current drought and saline conditions.
High-tech vegetable production brings stable income in drought and saline season
Creating income, reducing production costs
According to Head of Tan Tru Division of Agriculture and Rural Development - Doan Van Hoang, implementing Resolution No.08-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on developing hi-tech agriculture associated with restructuring agricultural sector, Tan Tru district Party Committee issued Resolution No.07 on developing hi-tech agriculture, in which, it chose 3 crops (rice, vegetables, dragon fruits) and 1 animal (cow). Up to now, the district has implemented 5 models of rice applying high technology with a total area of 250 hectares, 2 vegetable models of with an area about 1 hectare in Lac Tan commune and 20 hectares of dragon fruit grown under GAP standards, concentrated in the communes of Lac Tan and Que My Thanh, Binh Tinh, etc. Particularly for beef cattle, the implementation still faces many difficulties due to capital and breeding animals.
"Due to the severe saline intrusion this year, many areas of winter-spring rice lacked fresh water, leading to serious losses. Most of the damaged rice areas are located in low-land communes, where it is difficult to access fresh water and most sowing does not follow the agricultural sector's recommendations that the risk of drought and salinity comes soon. As for the rice areas applying high technology that has been harvested and achieved high yields, farmers have a profit of 25-30 million VND per hectare. The models of growing hi-tech vegetable and dragon fruit in the district are still maintained. Most models use well water and irrigation and drainage systems to maintain production" - Mr. Hoang added.
Director of the Khoi Nguyen Organic Fresh Vegetables Cooperative (in hamlet 5, Lac Tan commune) - Nguyen Viet Thinh said: "Since it was established, vegetables are grown entirely from organic fertilizers, so the quality of vegetables is always guaranteed and favored by consumers. Normally, the total area of vegetables and fruit of the cooperative is 5.4 hectares, providing tons of vegetables, tubers and fruits to the market every month. However, many members are unable to take initiative in the water source for production due to the current drought and salinity conditions, so the production area is reduced to about 1.5 hectares. Currently, all 1.5 hectares of these vegetables are grown in net houses and use treated well water to irrigate".
It is currently known that the cooperative mainly grows water spinach to supply the market. The water spinach price is also high, from 10,000 to 12,000 VND per kilo. With this price, growers have an income of 500,000-800,000 VND per day.
Drought and salinity have lasted for months, causing significant impacts on irrigation and the development of dragon fruits in Tan Tru district. However, some dragon fruit areas thanks to hi-tech applications in production should still maintain well. Mr. Le Thanh Nam, who lives in Binh Tinh commune, shared: "Last time, my family applied high technology to produce over 1.2 hectares of dragon fruits. In general, hi-tech production helps dragon fruit to grow well, less pests and diseases. At the same time, the economical watering system reduces the pressure on the irrigation water source in the current drought and salinity season, but it still ensures that the dragon fruit can grow and develop normally".
According to professional evaluation, saving irrigation model not only helps farmers save 80 percent of labor (watering, fertilizing), saving electricity, water usage, and so on, but it also improves high profit is about 2.5-5 million VND per hectare.
Water-saving irrigation systems help farmers reduce production costs
Maintaining production during the drought and saline season
In Thanh Hoa district, it has built a planning area of 2,000 hectares of rice applying high technology in 3 communes of Tan Tay, Thuy Dong and Thanh An to implement the Project on developing hi-tech agriculture of the province. In addition, the district also expanded 300 hectares of rice applying high technology in 3 communes of Tan Dong, Thuy Tay and Thanh Phuoc. Up to now, the district has implemented 2,041 out of 2,000 hectares of hi-tech rice, reaching 102 percent compared to the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee. In addition, the district has 77 cooperative teams for agricultural production, 11 cooperatives, including 5 cooperatives and 4 cooperative teams in the area of hi-tech rice.
According to the Vice Chairman of Thanh An commune People's Committee - Mai Van Thao, the commune was planned to implement the Program of hi-tech agriculture on rice until 2020 with 1,200 hectares. Up to now, the total area of 1,233 hectares was implemented, reaching 102.8 percent of the Resolution of the District Party Committee. The whole commune has 1 cooperative and 5 collaborative teams to produce hi-tech rice. At present, farmers in the commune have sown Summer-Autumn crop for nearly 20 days with an area of over 1,600 hectares, of which about 300 hectares of hi-tech rice. To support the people, the commune People's Committee coordinated with the District Center for Agricultural Service to regularly measure the salinity of canals in the area every 2 days to timely capture the situation and provide information to the people.
The leader of cooperative team 9, in hamlet 3, Thanh An commune - Nguyen Thanh Xuan shared that all members of the cooperative team have sown the Summer-Autumn crop for about 20 days with the main rice variety of OM4625. People are presently very interested in the situation of drought and salinity. However, the land with the special feature that is less affected by drought and salinity, people still bravely sow and apply all steps towards organic production to ensure rice quality.
"Cooperative team has had 32 members with about 110 hectares of rice in the planning area of growing hi-tech rice since 2018. The cooperative team has been supported to flatten the field and use organic fertilizer, etc. Besides, it was also encouraged to implement the models such as reducing the number of sowing seeds, "1 must, 5 decreases", "1 must, 6 decreases" and eco-technology. Thereby, they help farmers increase profits in production and contribute to environmental protection " - Mr. Xuan added.
Head of Divison of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa district - Nguyen Kinh Kha said: "At present, a part of an area of about 10 hectares in 2 communes of Tan Dong and Tan Tay of the district is also affected by drought and salinity. Although the impact is not significant, this situation still continues in a long time, the risk of the district agricultural production is also greatly affected. The water source for producing hi-tech rice in Thanh An commune is mainly from Bac Dong canal (a branch of Tien river), so the salinity is still low, ranging from 0.3-0.5 grams per liter. In addition, the room also has a plan in case drought and salinity occur in the district. Accordingly, if the salinity level shows signs of increasing near the permitted level, the department will propose the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to temporarily close Ca Tom channel (adjacent to Tan Thanh district) to store fresh water, ensuring for production, minimize damage to farmers"./.

With the theme, the UNWTO aims to highlight the unique role that tourism plays in providing opportunities in rural areas and preserving cultural and natural heritage all around the world.
Vietnam's tourism sector is building a thorough recovery plan in keeping with market trends. A survey on demands and consumption trend of Vietnamese tourists is underway.
Meanwhile, the VNAT is preparing for another tourism stimulus targeting domestic holidaymakers as the pandemic has been brought under control.
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili said that the World Tourism Day is a chance to recognise the role tourism outside major cities and its ability to build a better future for all.
"All around the world, tourism empowers rural communities, providing jobs and opportunity, most notably for women and youth. Tourism also enables rural communities to hold onto their unique cultural heritage and traditions, and the sector is vital for safeguarding habitat and endangered species," he added.
For numerous rural communities around the world, tourism is a leading provider of employment and opportunities. In many places, it is one of the few viable economic sectors, offering young people a chance to earn a living without having to migrate either within their home countries or abroad.
Communities in rural areas also struggle with impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These communities are usually much less-prepared to deal with the short- and longer-term impact of the crisis, and tourism offers a solution to all of these challenges.
For the first time in the 40-year history of the World Tourism Day, the official celebration will not be hosted by a single nation. Instead, five nations of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with Chile joining with observer status, will serve as joint hosts.
This co-hosting agreement exemplifies the spirit of international solidarity that runs through tourism./.

At Bach Hoa Xanh - Ben Luc branch (Ben Luc town), to ensure business, the store regularly propagates to all employees and customers about the Covid-19 epidemic, hygiene measures, disease prevention. The store determined that the best solution to prevent epidemics in the current period is to ensure workers' health. Currently, the store is equipped with hand sanitizer at the entrance of the store. According to the reporter's report, customers who come to shopping are measured the body temperature, antiseptic hands and reminders to wear masks properly.
The Covid-19 epidemic has severely affected most sectors of the economy and stopped many socio-economic activities. This is both a challenge and an opportunity for businesses and production facilities to renew themselves and find new and suitable directions. Thereby, they will work together with the whole country to carry out the dual goal of preventing and fighting against epidemics with the spirit of "fighting the epidemic is like fighting against the enemy" and recovering and developing the economy./.

|Creating ‘runway’ for economy to ‘take off’||Creating ‘runway’ for economy to ‘take off’|
Recent years, Long An province has focused on building transport infrastructure, especially 14 traffic works under the Program of Mobilizing all resources to build the transport infrastructure system to serve the industrial development of the key economic region - 1 out of 2 breakthrough programs under the Resolution of the Xth Congress of the Provincial Party Committee. Up to now, the program has achieved certain results and contributed to promoting local economic development.
Creating continuity and favorable conditions for economic development
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Tran Van Can, many investors have the same opinion that Long An has a favorable geographical position in the Southern key economic region - the gateway from Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region to the Mekong Delta region, and vice versa. Therefore, the province has many favorable conditions to promote industrial development. Therefore, the Xth Congress of the Provincial Party Committee identified the Program of mobilizing all resources to build the transport infrastructure system to serve the industrial development of the key economic region as 1 of 2 breakthrough programs with strategic meaning for economic development.
The program's list includes 14 arterial roads in the districts of Ben Luc, Duc Hoa, Can Giuoc and Can Duoc which are planned to connect synchronously to industrial parks and clusters, especially connecting to Long An Port and the routes of Ho Chi Minh City. When these roads are completed, they will be like a "runway" to create momentum for the province's economy to "take off". Accordingly, the resources for these projects are mainly from the provincial budget. Up to now, 8 works have been completed, 4 projects are constructing and 2 projects are implementing procedures to start.
Among 8 completed works, 6 ones are located in Duc Hoa district and 2 ones are located in Can Duoc district; the others are located in Ben Luc and Can Giuoc districts. Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Hoa district - Tran Van Lanh excitedly said: "In previous years, in the dialogues, inadequacies in transport infrastructure were always mentioned by investors and enterprises. They hoped the province would soon develop and complete the transport infrastructure to connect Ho Chi Minh City, industrial parks and industrial clusters in the district with the province to transport goods more conveniently. Up to now, many works in the Program of mobilizing all resources to build the transport infrastructure system to serve the industrial development of the key economic region have been completed and put into use; initially promoted effectively such as Provincial road (PR) 830 to National Road N2, PR825, PR823, PR824.
In addition to the projects invested by the province, the district has also implemented many roads to connect and complete the district rural transport planning to create "continuity" and favorable conditions for the production and business of the enterprises.
Duc Hoa district has 10 industrial parks, of which, 6 industrial parks have come into operation with an area of 2,156 hectares, attracting over 800 projects (including about 500 domestic projects with a capital of 32,735 billion VND, remaining foreign invested projects with a capital of 1,307 million USD), the occupancy rate of the industrial parks is over 73 percent. In addition, the district has approved the planning of 20 industrial clusters with a total area of over 994 hectares. Up to now, 15 industrial clusters have investors, of which, 10 industrial clusters have come into operation with an area of 499 hectares, the occupancy rate reaches 92 percent; 5 industrial clusters have just invested in an area of 289 hectares, 5 industrial clusters are implementing the establishment procedures. According to the Chairman of Duc Hoa District People's Committee - Tran Van Lanh, the completion of roads in the district will create great opportunities in attracting investment in industrial parks and clusters in unfinished areas as well as projects that are having investment policies to contribute to promoting economic growth in the district.
Belief in the new springs
Spring is also the period when the Provincial road 833B (the section from National highway 1 to Vam Co Dong river) has just completed 100 percent of the project progress. This route starts from National highway 1 (in Long Hiep commune, Ben Luc district) to Long Cang ferry port (in Can Duoc district) with a length of over 5.6 kilometers. The total cost of implementing the route (including Ong Tong bridge) is over 190 billion VND. Party Secretary of Long Hiep Commune - Truong Ngoc Hien said: "Local authorities and people are excited about the completion of Provincial road 833B (from Long Hiep commune, Ben Luc district to Phuoc Van and Long Cang communes, Can Duoc district) because thousands of people travel, transport goods and agricultural products through this route every day.
Can Duoc district invested in Phuoc Van - Long Dinh road to connect with Provincial road 833B. According to Chairman of Can Duoc District People's Committee - Huynh Van Quang Hung, this is one of the local arterial roads connecting 3 upland communes (Long Cang, Long Dinh, Phuoc Van) to serve the transportation development in the area of high-tech vegetable growing areas of the district. In particular, this road also connects and develops many residential areas, especially industrial parks and clusters that have been implemented in the district.
According to many businesses, Can Duoc is a "neighbor" to Ho Chi Minh City, when benefiting from the province's transport works that are being invested as well as favorable mechanisms and policies to attract investment of the provincial leaders, the district will be a destination for investors from many fields.
Currently, Can Duoc district has 4 industrial parks including Cau Tram industrial park, Thuan Dao - Ben Luc (expansion) industrial park; Phuoc Dong, Phuc Long industrial parks and wharves. In particular, Cau Tram, Thuan Dao - Ben Luc industrial parks have a very high occupancy rate. Phuoc Dong industrial park and wharf is gradually completing infrastructure to attract investment in 2020. Phuc Long industrial park (in Long Dinh commune - Phuoc Van) is carrying out the necessary procedures to deploy. In addition, the district also has 17 industrial clusters, of which, 7 industrial clusters have completed site clearance, infrastructure and received secondary investors; 2 industrial clusters are clearing ground and 8 industrial clusters are carrying out investment procedures.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Duoc District - Huynh Van Quang Hung added that among 14 transport works under the Program of mobilizing all resources to build the transport infrastructure system to serve the industrial development of the key economic region, Can Duoc district has 2 works and all have been completed currently. Besides, Can Duoc is also focused on implementing many routes belonging to the Provincial road 830, in the near future, the district will have a great attraction to investors. In 2019, the value of industrial production - construction of the district increased by 21 percent compared to 2018, reaching a value of over 24,500 billion VND. Believing that in 2020 and the following years, when new industrial parks and clusters come into operation, the industry of Can Duoc district will grow dramatically, worthy of being one of the key economic districts of the province.
When completing the breakthrough program of traffic associated with key projects of the province, it will create favorable conditions and openness in trade; make an important contribution to promoting investment and industrial development in the key economic region of Long An in order to b oost the provincial economy to develop faster and stronger in the coming years./.
