Due to the African Swine Fever, the supply of pork decreased, the price of pork and processed meat products increased. That is the main reason for the continuous increase of CPI in October and November 2019 (See picture).
Besides, there are also some factors to help control CPI in November 2019: Prices of petrol and oil decreased by 1.69% from two times of adjustments on October 31 and November 15; prices of chicken meat decreased by 1.76% due to abundant supply in the market.
Specifically, among 11 groups of goods and services, there are 6 groups with the increase in CPI: Food and catering services increased by 1.7%; beverage and cigarette increased by 1.66%; garment, headwear, footwear increased by 0.56%; culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.27%; other goods and services increased by 0.11%; appliances and household appliances increased by 0.09%.
There are 3 groups with the decrease in CPI, which are: transport decreased by 0.7%; housing, water, electricity, fuel and construction materials decreased by 0.09%; education decreased by 0.01%.
CPI is kept unchanged for the group of drug and health services, as well as post and telecommunication.
CPI in November 2019 increased by 2.33% over the same period last year. In the first 11 months of 2019, CPI increased by 2.66% on average compared to the same period in 2018./.
