For Long An province, in addition to the lack of water for agricultural production, drought and salinity also cause more than 8,000 households in the lower districts to lack drinking water and water for daily use. The support of water purifiers of donors contributes to share difficulties for people in prolonged drought, saline season.
According to the director of the Southern Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Department - Nguyen Thanh Nam, at present, drought and saltwater intrusion are becoming more and more severe in the Mekong River Delta provinces and the water shortage seriously affects the lives of tens of millions of people.
