Industrial Complexes in Long An Province after reviewing up to 2020 and vision to 2030 
 
Until the end of 2004, roadways in province was 1.698km, in which asphalt roads were 474km, accounting for 27,9%, gravel roads were 1053km (62%), other kinds of roads were 171km (10,1%) (excluding rural roads).

Visiting Quang Ngai province, the delegation of leaders of Long An province visited a number of projects in Dung Quat Economic Zone: Hoa Phat Steel Plant, Doosan Vietnam Company, etc.

From March 14th – 18th, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee – Pham Van Ranh, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee – Tran Van Can and the delegation of Long An province visits and learn experience of attracting investment and building economic model, open economic zone in Quang Ngai, Quang Nam provinces; and visits the model of high-tech agricultural development. A number of businesses and investors also joins the delegation such as: Dong Tam, Him Lam, Thuan Phat, etc.

In the first working day, the delegation of Long An province had a working session with Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, divisions and sectors of Quang Ngai province.

On behalf of the delegation of Long An province, Mr. Pham Van Ranh informed about the socio-economic development situation of Long An, the consistent policy and orientation of the provincial leaders in attracting investment, forming and developing industrial parks and clusters, contributing to boosting economic restructuring along the direction of industrialization and modernization.

In his presentation, Mr. Ranh also discussed and raised issues concerned by the province relating to the research, formation and development of economic and open economic zones in the province.

The delegation visits and works at Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company

According to the working program, the delegation visited Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company, a member unit of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, which is assigned to take over, manage and operate Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant and plays a pioneering role and lays the foundation for the development of the petrochemical industry in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity and experience for businesses accompanied the delegation to study and apply experience when learning and investing in Long An province.

Tan Hung DistrictTan Hung District
Tan Hung District is located in the Northwest of Long An Province, the North of Cambodia with the border line of 15.22km, in the boundaries of 3 communes of Hung Dien, Hung Dien B and Hung Ha, the South adjoining to Tan Thanh District, Moc Hoa, the East adjoining to Vinh Hung district, the West adjoining to Dong Thap Province.

Tan Hung is located in the deep-flooded area of Dong Thap Muoi Region which is given with the benefits from the flooding season as well as directly impacted by the floods. The establishment and socio-economic development of Tan Hung are also closely linked with the reclamation and immigration and construction of new economic region in Dong Thap Muoi. Tan Hung district is located in the transition area between the Pleitocene and the upstream of Mekong River Delta Region with two main landscape types of rich alum low region and river bed of ancient rivers.

Tan Hung district has the natural area of 49,670.81 ha and the population of 53,555 people according to the census on 21/5/2013. Tan Hung district consists 01 town of Tan Hung and 11 communes of Vinh Thanh, Vinh Loi, Vinh Dai, Hung Dien B, Hung Thanh, Vinh Chau A, Vinh Chau B, Thanh Hung, Hung Ha, Hung Yen, Vinh Buu (separated from Vinh Dai commune). ​

Thanh Hoa districtThanh Hoa district
Thanh Hoa district is located in the Northwest of Long An Province with the natural area of 46,837.28 ha and the population of 55,439 people according to the census up to 21/5/2013, about 36 km away from Tan An City to the North following National Highway No. 62. Thanh Hoa district has the administrative borders with the North adjoining to Cambodia, the Northeast adjoining to Duc Hue district, the South adjoining to Tien Giang Province, the West adjoining to Moc Hoa district, the Southwest adjoining to Tan Thanh district, the East adjoining to Thu Thua district.

Thanh Hoa is a district in Dong Thap Muoi region where is annually impacted by the floods. The establishment and socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa district is closely linked to reclamation and immigration and construction of new economic region in Dong Thap Muoi. The infrastructure is still limited and not synchronous which results in considerable difficulties for the socio-economic development of the district. According to the geographical and economic region classification of Long An province, Thanh Hoa belongs to Sub-Zone IV (including Thanh Hoa, Bac Thu Thua and a part of Tan Thanh district). The main tasks assigned to the distrist is developing agriculture-forestry-fishery, in particularly: stabilizing the production of 2-crop rice (Winter-Spring and Spring-Autumn), rotation production of rice-jute, forestry (indigo) and fresh aquaculture.

Thanh Hoa district has 11 communes-town in which Thanh Hoa town is the center of the district and communes of Thuy Dong, Thuy Tay, Tan Dong, Tan Tay, Thanh Phuoc, Thanh Phu, Thuan Nghia Hoa, Thuan Binh, Tan Hiep, Thanh An (newly established according to the Decree No. 50/2003/NĐ-CP by the Government on the basis of being separated from Thuy Tay commune).​

Duc Hoa DistrictDuc Hoa District
Duc Hoa is one of districts of Long An province with the natural area of 42,775.65 ha, population of 226,693 people according to the census up to 21/5/2013. Duc Hoa district shares the borders with the following administrative units: the North adjoins to Trang Bang District of Tay Ninh province and Cu Chi District, Hoc Mon District in Ho Chi Minh city, the Southeast adjoins to Binh Chanh district-HCMC, the West adjoins to Duc Hue district, the Southwest adjoins to Ben Luc district.

From Duc Hoa, it is very convenient to connect with the towns of Ho Chi Minh City located on National Highway No. 22 and National Highway No. 1 (Cu Chi town, Hoc Mon town, An Lac town) and the towns of the districts adjoining to Duc Hoa district. Provincial Road No. 8 is also the important traffic axis connecting with National Highway No. 22 to create the traffic axis connecting the Southeast Region and Southwest Region.

From the beginning of the year to date, Industrial clusters in Long An province have received 5 investment projects (in 2 fields: mechanics and plastics) with the area of 3.3 hectares.

Up to now, the whole province has 19 operating industrial clusters with a total area of 904.3 hectares, has leased 586.6 hectares. Industrial clusters attracted 544 projects with a total investment capital of VND15,635 billion. Of these, these are 60 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total investment capital of USD 209 million. The occupancy rate of industrial clusters is 86.55%.

In the first nine months of 2018, the provincial People's Committee has set up six industrial clusters covering an area of 379.6 hectares including Hoang Gia, Dua Hoa Dong, Thanh Yen, My Kim, Tan Dong Tien and Tan My.

Besides, the Long An Department of Industry & Trade has proposed People's Committee to establish two more An Long and Tu Phuong industrial clusters. As per result, Long An has now total 40 industrial clusters covering 1,908 hectares.

Moc Hoa DistrictMoc Hoa District
Moc Hoa district is located in the transition of the Pleitocene ground and the upstream of Mekong River Delta Region, therefore, there are two main kinds of soils of alum soil and grey soil along Vietnam-Cambodia border.

Moc Hoa district has the natural area of  29,764.25ha and the population of 29,853 people according to the censes up to 21/5/2013. The East of the province adjoins to Thanh Hoa district, the West adjoins to Kien Tuong Town and Tan Thanh district, the north adjoins to Kingdom of Cambodia (18.005 km), the South adjoins to Tan Thanh district.

Moc Hoa District has 7 administrative units including communes of Binh Hoa Tay, Binh Hoa Trung, Binh Hoa Dong, Binh Phong Thanh, Tan Lap, Tan Thanh, Binh Thanh. ​

Chau Thanh DistrictChau Thanh District
Chau Thanh district shares borders with Tan An City, about 12 km away from the city center, 52 km following National Highway No. 1A and 42 km following National Highway No. 50 away from Ho Chi Minh city. The North of the district adjoins to Tan Tru District sharing the borders with Vam Co Tay River; the South adjoins to Cho Gao district and Go Cong Tay District of Tien Giang province; the East adjoins to Can Duoc district with the administrative border of Vam Co river; the West adjoins to Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province. Chau Thanh district has the total natural area of 15,087.83 ha, and population of 107,840 people according to the census up to 21/5/2013.

Chau Thanh district has the convenient waterway and road system to facilitate the agricultural product consumption and application of science and technology to develop the hi-tech agriculture, processing industry, trade-service and become the clue for purchasing agricultural products. Provincial Road No. 827 and the bypass through National Highway No.50 shall be the main external road of the District connecting the economic zones together. On the other hand, Chau Thanh is located adjoining to Vam Co River, near East Sea with many saline areas, at the downstream, there is fresh water source from Cho Gao canal and Bao Dinh canal, therefore, the fresh water is limited (especially in communes of Thanh Phu Long, Thuan My, Thanh Vinh Dong) and there are many saline alluvial areas.​

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY SYSTEM- The electrical system belongs to the national electrical grid, supplied by an electrical medium voltage resource (voltage of 22 KV) connecting from 110KV power station at Ben Luc (double electrical circuit). This source will supply electricity to each factory in Nhut Chanh IP through an electrical cable system.
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM- Water supplying system of Nhut Chanh IP is supplied by Long An Water Supplying Factory.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM- Waste water from factories is collected through the underground piping network and treated in the Sewage Treatment Plant with its capacity 4,000 m3/day in conformity to The Vietnam Environmental Standard before its falling into Vam Co Dong River. The wastewater shall be treated to meet The Vietnam Environmental Standard.
POST AND TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM- Establishing the modern and international standard network of Postal & Telecommunication Service; such as to equip and install MDF, telephone system and ADSL provided by a Telecommunication Service and meet all demands of investors.

Duc Hue District Duc Hue District
Duc Hue district is located in the North of Long An Province with the natural area of 43,174.93 ha and the population of 68,238 people according to the census up to 21/5/2013. The district is divided into 11 administrative units (10 communes and 1 town) and shares the borders with 4 districts of Long An Province, Tay Ninh province and Cambodia, in particular, the Northeast adjoins to Duc Hoa district, the South and the Southeast adjoin to Thu Thua District and Ben Luc district, the West and Southwest adjoin to Thanh Hoa District, Long An Province and Cambodia.

Duc Hue is located at the northeast edge of Dong Thap Muoi region, adjoining to Southeast Region where is the transition from the Southeast to Mekong River Delta Region. With the above mentioned geographical location, the district receives the freshwater source from Dau Tieng Lake which helps Duc Hue District to promote the advantage in producing the typical agricultural products of Mekong River Delta Region such as: rice, sugarcane, animals (pig, cows, ducks), shrimps, fish and forestry product (melaleuca). In addition, thanks to located nearest to the border gate from Cambodia to Hau Nghia Town to Ho Chi Minh City, the district has the advantage for developing service and trade (import and export activities through the border gate), attracting the investments into the district (farm, service, trade etc.). In the future, when the main traffic axes and border ring roads N1 are completed, Duc Hue shall have the great opportunities to exploit the socio-economic development advantages, especially in service economy to contribute to transit the economy mechanism following modernization and industrialization.

Besides above mentioned advantages, the geographical location also brings about some restrictions to Duc Hue district as follows: because this is the transition location between the Southeast Region and Mekong River Delta Region with the overlapping of Pleitocene and new alluvial as well as the alum coating, therefore, 100% soil is of "having problem" land category. In addition, when Dau Tieng Lake is not yet completed, the entire Duc Hue district is contaminated with saline with the volume of 4g/l for 3-4 months/year and the infrastructure is not yet invested properly, the district is the poorest district of Long An province (with the percentage of poor households of 19.3%). At the same time, with 25km of border line (in 4 communes), the district is the "hot location" of smuggling with the participation of many people which causes the delays in agricultural production because it is easy to earn money than honest work.

The district consist of Dong Thanh Town-the center of the district and 10 communes of My Thanh Dong, My Quy Dong, My Quy Tay, My Thanh Tay, Binh Thanh, My Thanh Bac, Binh Hoa Bac, Binh Hoa Nam, Binh Hoa Hung, My Binh (separated from Binh Hoa Hung commune).​

Secretary of Long An province Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People's Council Pham Van Ranh and Chairman of People's Committee Tran Van Can attended the event.

Chairman Can said Sojitz is the largest Japanese economic Corporation to invest in muti-fields in the province and has many experiences in attracting investment and supplying industrial park's high quality infrastructure services.

Long An authorities hoped that Sojitz would help call for more prestigous foreign investors to invest in Long An's Phu An Thanh Industrial Park, focusing on hi-tech fields to contribute environment protection and the provincial socioeconomic development.

The Mekong River Delta promises to be an attractive destination for investors as well as tourists

Representatives of the leaders of provinces, cities, departments, agencies, branches of Ho Chi Minh City and 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong River Delta with more than 200 guests attended the event.

This conference within the framework of the series of events "Tourism Connection Forum of Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong River Delta 2019" was held from September 4 to September 5 by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and Ho Chi Minh City Center for Trade and Investment Promotion.

According to the Organization Board, there are currently a total of 179 projects calling for investment in the fields of culture - sports - tourism - entertainment of the region. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City has 51 projects, the Cluster of Tourism Development Cooperation in the Eastern of the Mekong River  Delta - the Eastern Cluster of the Mekong River Delta (including 6 provinces of Dong Thap, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long and Tra Vinh) has 36 projects.

Accordingly, in the period of 2018 - 2020, Long An plans to send 1,000 local laborers abroad and 1,000 laborers will be sent abroad annually starting 2021 to 2025.

The move is under a scheme to export labor abroad signed by local authorities, aiming to tackle local unemployment. It is to reduce poverty, provide more job opportunities, contribute to socio-economic development and to allow the unemployed to earn more stable income as well as to develop an awareness of complying with workplace regulations.

In the period of 2011-2017, the province sent more than 600 laborers abroad. However, labor export has so far faced many difficulties resulting that the number of local laborers working abroad has remained still low, said the Deputy Director of Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs - Hoa Thanh Nien./.

Compared to the previous month, Among 11 major commodity and service groups have increased in price indexes: Traffic has the highest increase of 1.54%; beverages and cigarettes rose 1.2%; food and catering services rose by 0.33%; housing, utilities, fuel and building materials rose 0.21%; equipment and household appliances by 0.13%; garment, footwear and footwear rose by 0.06%; Other goods and services increased by 0.06%. Main reasons for increasing CPI: Petrol, oil price increased 3.05%, oil increased 4.96%, gas price increased 2.31% according to the world market; pork prices rose by 1.14% after the devaluation, fresh vegetables by 3.2%, etc. Also, there are some reasons to curb CPI: the price of some foods such as beef reduced 0.53%, eggs decreased 2.68%, some fruits fell due to the harvest season.

Attending the ceremony, there were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Mr. Tran Thanh Nam; provincial Vice Chairman – Mr. Pham Van Canh; Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City – Ms. Karen Lanyon.

According to Director of Hoang Phat Co., Ltd – Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa, this first batch of dragon fruit exported to Australia was about 3 tons, and white dragon fruit.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – Mr. Tran Thanh Nam, exporting Vietnamese dragon fruit to the Australian market was one of the important events for our country's agricultural sectors, a milestone marking the efforts of farmers, enterprises and professional agencies.

Vinh Hung District is located in the Northwest of Long An Province with the total natural area of 38,472.90 ha and the population of 51,827 people according to the census up to 21/5/2013. The district is divided into 10 administrative units (9 communes and 1 town). Vinh Hung district shares borders with 2 districts of Long An province and Cambodia, in particular as follows: the North and the Northeast adjoin to Cambodia, the Southeast adjoins to Moc Hoa district-Long An Province, the West and Southwest adjoins to Tan Hung district – Long An province.

Vinh Hung is located in the deep area of Dong Thap Muoi and annually impacted heavily by the floods. The establishment and socio-economic development of Vinh Hung is closely linked with the reclamation, immigrations and construction of the new economic area in Dong Thap Muoi. Located in the transition between the Pleitocene and the upstream of Mekong River Delta Region, two main landscape types of te region is alum low with rich in rainwater (Sulphur-rich sediment) and river beds of the ancient rivers. The clear typical feature of VInh Hung is the grey soil along Cambodia border and the strengthened ancient riversto create the low delta region and alum areas. According to the geographical and economic region classification of Long An province, VInh Hung belongs to Sub-zone 3 (including Vinh Hung, Tan Hung, Moc Hoa, Tan Thanh). The key economic development direction is agriculture-forestry in which commodity rice production is the leading direction.

Vinh Hung district consists of 10 communes-town in which Vinh Hung town is the center town and the remaining communes are: Vinh Tri, Hung Dien A, Thai Tri, Thai Binh Trung, Tuyen Binh, Tuyen Binh Tay, Vinh Binh, Khanh Hung, Vinh Thuan.​​​

Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ben Tre province transfers the role of cluster leader in 2021 to the Vinh Long Department of  Culture, Sports and Tourism

2020 is a difficult year for the local tourism industry. According to statistics, the number of tourists and revenue from tourists in localities has decreased sharply. During the year, the provinces in the cluster welcomed about 6.5 million visitors, down 52 percent over the same period in 2019, collecting over 185 trillion VND, down 49 percent over the same period. Particularly in Long An, in 2020, it welcomed 800,000 visitors with a revenue of about 400 billion VND (down nearly 50 percent over the same period).

Long An Province is adjoining to Ho Chi Minh city and Tay Ninh Province to the East, Kingdom of Cambodia to the North, Dong Thap Province to the West and Tien Giang Province to the South.

Long An province is located at the quite special geographical location because although the province is located in the Mekong River Delta Region, the province belongs to Key Economic Development Zone in the South which is defined as the key economic area with specially important role in the economic development strategy of Vietnam. Long An ratios the borders with the Kingdom of Cambodia with the length of 132.977 km and two border gates of Binh Hiep (Moc Hoa) and Tho Mo (Duc Hue). Long An is the gateway connecting the Southeast Region with Mekong River Delta Region, specially the province ratios the borders with Ho Chi Minh city by the road system such as National Highway No. 1A, National Highway No. 50 etc. and provincial roads of DT.823, DT.824, DT.825 etc. The interregional and national waterway has been upgraded, expanded, newly constructed to create the driving force and new opportunities for the development.
