Moc Hoa district is located in the transition of the Pleitocene ground and the upstream of Mekong River Delta Region, therefore, there are two main kinds of soils of alum soil and grey soil along Vietnam-Cambodia border.

Moc Hoa district has the natural area of  29,764.25ha and the population of 29,853 people according to the censes up to 21/5/2013. The East of the province adjoins to Thanh Hoa district, the West adjoins to Kien Tuong Town and Tan Thanh district, the north adjoins to Kingdom of Cambodia (18.005 km), the South adjoins to Tan Thanh district.

Moc Hoa District has 7 administrative units including communes of Binh Hoa Tay, Binh Hoa Trung, Binh Hoa Dong, Binh Phong Thanh, Tan Lap, Tan Thanh, Binh Thanh. ​
